Dear Grant Families,

This is Mr. Effa calling you on Monday night with another potential power outage update.

We received a notification from PG&E letting us know that they are potentially initiating another public safety power shut off. This shut off is tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday morning. As past practice, you can expect an updated message through phone, email, text and Facebook letting you know the status of school by 6:30 tomorrow morning.

Due to a collective effort of the Grant School management team we have a contingency plan that will allow us to communicate throughout the school even without power. Therefore, unless the temperatures become too cold, we may very well have school even if power is not restored on campus.

Unless weather conditions do not allow, please plan to attend school tomorrow at the regular start time of 8:20. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:45. However, there will be no morning day care.

The power status and weather conditions will determine our end time. If we do not have power or loose it early in the day, we will have an early release at 11:20. If power remains on or the temperature and light conditions allow, we will function for a full day.

Students are encouraged to dress warm with sweaters and/or jackets and are allowed to bring battery operated lighting if they choose. Please have last names written on any personal items brought to school.

Please note that without power preschool, daycare and after school activities including athletic practices will be canceled regardless of the school status.

As soon as the school receives notification from PG&E or we confirm power is back, we will notify you via text, email, phone, and Facebook. We appreciate your patience in this matter while we continue to establish protocol for these days of preemptive power shut offs.

Remember, together we are Grant.
