A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday evening.  This is Mr. Freeman, the Superintendent/Principal of Grant Elementary School and I am excited because there are so many great things happening at Grant these days.  Let’s start with Back to School Night.  This week we have two Back to School Night events.  The first one is tomorrow night for grades 4-8 and the second will be Thursday night for grades TK-3.  Both events will get started at 6:30.  The flyer that went home said that there would be a meeting in the MUR at 6:15 but we will be skipping that this year and starting at 6:30 in your student’s classroom.  For grades 4-8 will have a Parent Information meeting for fall sports at 5:30 in the gym.  There will also be a 7th grade Spanish meeting for parents Wednesday night at 5:45 in Mrs. Sumption’s classroom (room P5).  For 6th graders, we will be having parents follow their student’s schedule starting with their homeroom.  For Thursday’s Back to School Night for grades TK-3 there will be a parent information meeting for K-3 Cross Country at 5:30 before the Back to School Night action begins in your teacher’s classrooms.  Remember to sign up for K-3 Cross Country on the sign up sheet outside Mrs. Henry’s classroom.  Speaking of Mrs. Henry, the first grade team wanted their parents to know that Back to School Night presentations will be happening in each teacher’s classrooms this year instead of meeting all together.  So that’s the scoop on Back to School Night.  There will be event parking available so come on out and get to know your student’s teacher!  Also happening this week will be our New Student Lunch tomorrow in the VAPA Room.  Mrs. Pellizzari and I are excited to get all of our new students together and see how the first couple of weeks are going for them.  Looking forward to that.  Also happening this week is the Grant School Web Store.  Check it out on our home page and get your Grant gear before it closes on September 5th.  Finally, now that the dust and craziness of the start of school has settled, I would like to remind our parents to follow our parking procedures.  Parking and leaving your vehicle unattended in unauthorized spots really does create an unsafe situation for other students.  It is just like other rules at school, they exist for a reason and most of those reasons have to do with keeping kids safe.  Please use the loading and unloading zone in the lower parking lot for just that, loading and unloading.  And please use the upper parking lot island as a drop off zone.  That way the traffic will flow smoothly and no one will get hurt.  Thanks for working with us on this one.  That’s it for me.  Back to School Night Wednesday for grades 4-8 and Thursday for TK-3, both nights starting at 6:30 in your student’s classroom.  Thanks for your time tonight.  Let’s expect the best this year and GO COUGARS!
