Time to Show What You Know!

How Are We DoingHappy spring everyone.  It is a great time of year with baseball and softball games, April showers, college basketball brackets…I could go on and on about the things that I love about this season.  It is also the season for me to ask questions.  Everywhere I go, in every meeting I am in, I am asking questions.  Questions like…

-How are we doing on our goals?

-What is working?  What is not working?

-What problems are we seeing and how can we solve them?

This spring I want to invite all of our staff, students, and parents to let me know how we are doing and what we could do to be better.  I have worked with Student Council to develop a Student Survey and we are in the process of sharing and analyzing those results.  Site Council has revised our annual Parent Survey and that will be coming out after Spring Break.  I want to encourage every parent to complete that survey because that input really does matter.

Beyond surveys, I want to meet with folks and talk face-to-face about how we can improve.  There is a list of opportunities for parents to sit down with me and share your thoughts.  Opportunities for April include the following:

-PTO Meeting April 7th from 3:00-4:00 in the Library

-Sports Boosters Meeting April 8th from 8:30-9:30 in the Conference Room

-Parent Chat April 11th from 7:30-8:30 in the morning in the Library

-School Site Council Meeting April 12th from 3:15-4:30 in the Library

-Centerville Education Foundation Meeting April 13th from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Library

-GESD Board Meeting April 21st at 6:30 in the Library

I am also looking for parents that would be interested in serving on a committee to develop our district goals and plans for our 3-year plan.  The dates for those meetings will be April 6th and April 27th from 3:30-5:00 in the Library.  This committee will be made up of parents and school district staff and I will work with them to process the input that is received and to draft a plan to take to all of our stakeholders in May.  A draft of the plan will be presented to the Board for public input in May and will eventually be approved with our 2016-17 budget in June.

If none of these dates work, just drop in.  I want to hear what you have to say.  hope you all know that your voice matters and your involvement is not only essential for the success of your student, but for all of our students.  I am convinced that when we work together, amazing things happen for kids.  In the four years that I have been here at Grant, I have seen significant progress in student achievement, safety, staff development, and community engagement.  We are not done and I would love to hear your thoughts to help us continue to improve.

Thanks for all that you already do to help us.  I appreciate it more than you know.  Looking at the calendar, there is still plenty of time to be the difference.  Let’s finish strong.
