A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hello and happy Thursday everyone.  This is Mr. Freeman calling from Grant School with a look at a few things as we head into the weekend soon.  First of all, I want to thank Kim McClung, our amazing Librarian, and all of our parent volunteers and shoppers for a terrific Book Fair last week.  The support that we received was great…our visiting Santa not so much.  We appreciate all that you do to help our library to be the best that it can be.  Reminder that tomorrow we will have our sports assembly for girls basketball teams and flag football.  That assembly will be in the Watson Gym at 2:00 and the staff vs. students girls basketball game will follow the assembly.  We also have a big deal happening in January.  Our 8th grade boys basketball team has been invited to play on the Kings’ Court in Sacramento’s new Golden 1 Center.  After their game they will be sticking around to watch the Kings take on the visiting Spurs and we have a few extra tickets for sale.  The cost of the tickets is $31 and there are less than 30 tickets left.  The game will Monday, January 8th at 7:00.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets, check in with the Main Office.  Get them before they are gone.  We also have Choose Kind shirts for sale to help kick off our Kindness Campaign.  The shirt is inspired by the movie Wonder and you can order one for $10 or $8 for orders of multiple shirts.  Student Council will be taking the proceeds and using them to fund a Buddy Bench program for the elementary school playground.  You can order in the Main Office or check out our Facebook page.  Last thing before I head off to the Board Meeting, I want to invite everyone to check out our Winter Concert series next week.  Under the musical direction of Mr. Aaron Rodrigues we will have a TK-6th grade concert on Tuesday, December 19th from 8:45-9:45.  Event parking will be available and we will be streaming the event live on our Facebook page for parents that are not able to make the show.  On Wednesday we will be featuring our band and choir programs and they will have two performances.  The first will be at 1:15 and the second will be later that evening at 6:00.  Again, event parking will be available and the events will be streamed for the first time ever.  It it is the most wonderful time of the year and it is a great time to Expect the Best at Grant School.  Thanks for all that you do and GO COUGARS (and Shasta Wolves!)!
